Wilderness Education in a Changing World: February 12, 2021

Hosted by   WEA basic logo   and  2nd Nature TREC logo    ONLINE - Registration!

How has wilderness education changed from its historic roots? What will it look like in the future?

This year’s conference theme focuses on examining the changing landscape of wilderness education in the context of the WEA 6+1 Educational Components. Wilderness education and outdoor leadership course delivery practices must keep pace with a changing society including an increased use of virtual learning and technology, increased focus on environmental integration and place-based education, programming in suburban settings, and supporting transformational experiences in shortened course durations, all with more intentional focus on diversity and inclusion.

For the first time in its 43 year history, the 2021 WEA International Conference on Outdoor Leadership will be offered in a 100-percent virtual format! While our community highly values in-person gatherings, it is the best choice relative to health, budgets, and other limitations to maximize a virtual experience this February.
Join us at the 2021 ICOL as we collectively give intellectual energy to these topics and explore ways to support and shape wilderness education in a changing world.
